Wednesdays
Dan Presley has been performing professionally since 1969 throughout the United States, Canada and Japan. His current group, Tall Jazz, was founded in 1989 and has released seven CDs to national acclaim. The group performs over 200 engagements per year. Dan was the jazz band instructor for Wilson High School in Portland from 1995–97. He is a member of the Portland Community College music career curriculum advisory board and an adjunct music faculty for Marylhurst University.

Joanna Blendulf, baroque cellist and violist da gamba, has earned degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and Indiana University. She was awarded a Performer’s Certificate for outstanding performance on baroque cello from Indiana University in 1998. Joanna currently performs with the New York Collegium, Apollo’s Fire, American Bach Soloists, the Portland Baroque Orchestra, and other well renowned groups. Ms. Blendulf is also a member of the chamber groups Bimbetta, Mirable and Florilegia, all based in the San Francisco Bay Area where she resides.

Adam Steele earned his BA from Pacific University and his masters of music from PSU. He joined the OES faculty in 1995. He teaches music to both Upper and Middle School students at OES and has taught private and small group lessons the past few summers. He instructs a class in which students create compositions using advanced digital tools, including Sibelius and Reason software. Adam also performs in many premiere choirs in the Northwest.

John Lamb has been teaching drums and percussion lessons to students for the past five years. He studied music at Trinity University and majored in jazz at Portland State University. John has a wide background playing many styles around the United States and Asia. He has written a drum instructional book for First Act, for 6–11-yearolds. John tailors his lessons around class material when appropriate and emphasizes understanding of material.
Mondays, Wednesdays
Allen Matthews began offering private lessons at OES Winter Term. He has a background in both classical guitar technique and specializes in South American music. Allen earned a Bachelors of Arts in Music from Fort Lewis College with a degree in guitar performance. He has been instructing students in guitar for the past several years and is an adjunct professor at Lewis and Clark College.

Sue Jensen is principal harpsichordist and organist for the Portland Baroque Orchestra, where she has performed and soloed since 1986 with many of the world’s leading specialists in the field of early music. She is also the Director of Music at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church and chairs the K–12 Music Department at OES.

Janet Morris has taught private piano lessons for over 20 years. Janet is a classically trained pianist and has studied piano for over 35 years with Don Lehman. She enjoys nurturing each student’s relationship with music and tailors lessons to the needs and interests of each student with a variety of music, from classical music and folk tunes to rock, jazz, and pop. Ms. Morris teaches students of all levels of experience, age 5 to adults.

Margaret Harris has taught at OES and at home for many years. She holds a bachelor of music from Willamette University. In addition she has taken many master classes in baroque music, majored in the pipe organ, and now plays the keyboard in praise bands. Margaret’s classes emphasize personal and caring instruction. They include music appreciation, technique, and theory.
Thursdays
Lars Campbell performs with the Oregon Symphony and in many other ensembles in the Northwest and across the United States, performing both classical and jazz concerts. This is his third year of teaching at OES and he is a much-sought-after trombone clinician. Lars is a graduate of PSU.

Neil Hollister began teaching string classes and private students at OES two years ago. He has taught in the Portland area since 1998 and has taught over 50 students privately. In addition, he has coached both adult and youth orchestras, and he has performed with many orchestras and ensembles, playing classical, jazz, and country. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Washington (2002) and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Portland (1995).

Wendy Steele earned a bachelor of music degree in voice performance at Pacific University and a master of music at Northwestern. Wendy joined the OES faculty in 1996. She performs with many of the top vocal ensembles in the Northwest, including the acclaimed Cappella Romana and Portland Baroque Orchestra. She has been teaching voice at OES for 15 years.

Les Green earned a BA in Vocal Performance from Ball State University where he studied voice with Mary Hapgopian and taught private students and voice classes. As a Tenor soloist, he has performed a wide range of repertoire from Bach to Mahler. As a teacher, Les fosters all around musicianship in students, not just vocal technique. He believes very strongly in training "the whole musician," not just the voice. Equipping students with language skills, stage presence, personal confidence, and of course excellent vocal technique and practice all becomes part of each lesson. His prior teaching has encompassed musicians at various stages of musical development from novice to advanced.

Lynn Vannier began teaching band and offering private lessons in the fall of 2005. Lynn earned a degree in music education from Lewis & Clark College. She also conducts the Clackamas Community Band in West Linn and performs with the Lewis & Clark College Symphony as prinicpal oboist. She offers private lessons in oboe, flute, clarinet, saxaphone, or beginning trumpet.
