Explorers for PreK to Grade 1
EXPLORERS is designed for children 4 to 7 years of age. Children are divided into classrooms based on their age. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, active participation, developmentally appropriate activities, and integrated curriculum. Daily outdoor time, music, arts, making new friends, and fun-centered activities will be enjoyed by all. Please see a sample schedule below.
Session I: June 25–July 6 (no camp July 4)
Things That Go
All aboard! The train is ready to leave the station! Construct a life-size train out of boxes so we can take turns riding the rails. You will want to dress for the journey, so choose the appropriate garments from our dressup clothes. Make jewelry appropriate for travel. Let's cook special foods so we don't leave hungry! Learn to make planes that will fly great distances. From 747s to the Spruce Goose, explore the wide variety of planes. Get out your favorite books as we explore trains, planes, and other modes of transportation. Toot, toot! Hurry, this train is about to depart!
Session II: July 9–20
Treasure Seekers
Shhh! There are pirates up ahead and we need to retrieve our stolen treasure. Join us as we use maps to locate the buried jewels. Find gold, rubies, diamonds, and other treasure. Make your own pirate hat, jewelry, and lucky medallions. Set your sails north to Alaska, where we can pan for gold. Success will be ours, so create an embellished treasure box to hold your golden nuggets and other jewels. Down in the galley, let's cook up some biscuits, beans, and other hardy grub! Get ready to cast off for the adventure of a lifetime!
Session III: July 23–August 3
Once Upon A Time
Hear Ye, Hear Ye! By royal proclamation, all princes and princesses are requested to appear at the royal court, stepping into the land of castles and dragons. Dress for the occasion by creating your own amazing costume. See your dreams fulfilled with the wave of a magic wand that you create! Mix up fantasy potions and make a feast fit for royalty, including fairy cakes. Build a castle and protect it against the catapults as you journey to medieval times.
Session IV: August 6–10 (1 week session)
Land Before Time: Dinosaur Days
Step back into time when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Learn about the variety of dinosaurs from Tyrannosaurus to Apatosaurus, and discover which was the largest, which was the smallest, and other interesting facts. Let's bake dinosaur cookies and find out how good they taste! Create your very own dinosaur house for your Brachylophosaurus to live in. Become a paleontologist as we dig for dinosaur bones and discover hidden treasure. Watch out--dinosaurs up ahead! Use your stealth as we hike in the woods and follow the tracks. Dress up like a dinosaur in our special costumes and have fun pretending to be your favorite dinosaur.
