Summer Explorers Kindergarten is designed for children 5 to 6 years of age. Children respond enthusiastically to the hands-on learning, active participation, and a developmentally appropriate, integrated curriculum. In addition to their engaging classroom activities, the children also attend Sports and Music & Movement classes. Outdoor time, making new friends, and fun-centered activities will be enjoyed by all. Children may take sessions individually or consecutively with curriculum changing according to the theme. Each session runs for two weeks from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parents provide a snack and lunch for their child (or order a lunch for $3.50).
SESSION I: JUNE 23–JULY 3 (NO CLASS JULY 4)
Mountain Marvels $390

Quiet! We are on the hunt for wild animals. I see animal tracks on the trail—what animal could’ve made them? Create your own favorite animal during art as we learn about who lives in the mountains. Notice the trees—let’s identify them by their leaves and needles and build a secret forest hideout. Sing camp songs, build a campfire, and roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Create your own trail mix to keep your energy up throughout the whole adventure. Can you name the tallest mountains in our area? Make a mountain habitat as we examine the terrain. Design your own costume, pack your bag with essential gear to explore the marvelous mountains.
SESSION II: JULY 7–JULY 18
Knights and Castles $425

Hear Ye, Hear Ye! By royal proclamation, all knights and princesses are requested to appear at the royal court on July 7. Dress for the occasion by creating your own amazing costume from legendary fairy tales like Robin Hood and Cinderella. Create a castle and other medieval projects, using dazzling materials to make magical projects worthy of your fantasies. Mix up your own fantasy potions and make a feast fit for royalty. SESSION III: JULY 21–AUGUST 1
Paradise Island $425

It’s all hands on deck as we sail away to Paradise Island. Decorate your own beach bag to carry all the fun things you will make and find. Create a sun visor and leis to blend in with the locals. Dig in the sand, find shells, and get ready for surprises—like a TREASURE HUNT! Make you own treasure map as you explore for more buried treasure, but stay clear of the pirates! Let’s keep cool by eating pineapple and other tropical fruits, and by making exotic drinks. Find out more about the fish, octopi, whales, and other creatures that live in the ocean. Build a sailboat and find out if it is seaworthy. Catch a ride on a wave for this fun-filled adventure!
SESSION IV: AUGUST 4–15
Lions , Tigers , and Bears ! Oh My! $425

ROAR! HOWL! It is a wild world out there and you are invited to travel through the African Savannah, South American Rainforests, Northwestern Forests, and the Arctic Tundra. Create each habitat and make things to transform your classroom into the OES Zoo. Make delicious treats worthy of each area we explore. Choose a favorite animal to learn more about and use your imagination to become the animal within the zoo. Come explore, play, and help create a zoo!
