Discovery Session 4
August 9–18
BUILDINGS & BRIDGES
From the Eiffel Tower to The Leaning Tower of Pisa we can appreciate a rich heritage of amazing buildings. Enjoy the view from the world’s tallest buildings—from Dubai to Malaysia. The Sears Tower still ranks as one of the tallest and the Empire State Building as one of the most famous. Think about what it took to design and build such tall structures. Ever been shopping on a bridge? Cross the stone Ponte Vecchio in Florence and you can. See the new tilting bridge and others using cable-stayed suspension. Create your own replicas of the world's coolest buildings and bridges—how big can you make them?
Learn which is tallest, most unusual, and which is longest as we use facts to guide our exploration. These buildings and bridges will become the back drop for our action packed spy thriller in drama. Dance to the beat of the river and sing our favorite songs. From "Fortress" to "Statues" we will have a great time playing in sports. Paint your favorite bridge and admire for years to come. Future engineers and builders will have a blast as technology collides with design.
