Session III: July 16–27
Program Cost: $535 • Extended Care: $135
Trot, trot, trot, the royalty has arrived in their carriage. Hear Ye, Hear Ye … Now presenting the King and Queen! Shhh … the King is about to speak … “Ladies and Gentlemen, Let the games begin!” Looking for a tasty treat? Come make some cotton candy, and bob for apples. Hang on tight as you ride the carousel. Watch as the brave knights joust and the archers compete for riches and glory. Before there were roller coasters, there were festivals. Join the festivities with dazzling colors, fragrant foods, and rhythmic music. Parade in costumes and masks throughout the day. Don’t let the horses escape; we will need them for our return home.
Capture the excitement of a magic carnival, and discover what happens behind the scenes while creating an amazing piece of art. How does cotton candy get so fluffy? Discover the science and magic of this sugary treat! Explore wheels, pulleys, and levers as you create ways to move things. Bring your manners as we make tea and crumpets. Join in on some spirited group games from yesterday and today. Carnivals can be full of mysterious characters and unexplained events—play your part in the fanciful world of festivals in Drama. Music and Movement will feature dances from festivals around the world.
Oaks Park to check out the carousels and other fun rides on Wednesday, July 30.
Festivals-inspired play, presentations from faculty and a slide show at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1.
