OES is a coeducational, independent school where experienced
teachers work with students individually and in small classes
to maximize learning. OES offers excellent academic and athletic
facilities as well as opportunities for leadership and community
service. Modern dormitories staffed by resident faculty families
provide a safe home away from home. OES graduates are welcomed
at competitive colleges and universities in the United States
and abroad.
Vose is a kindergarten through fifth grade school in the Beaverton
School District. The only Latino-majority school in the district,
the school is rich with cultural resources. Approximately thirteen
languages are spoken, and student heritage is celebrated through
the Fiesta Latina, and school events throughout the year.
The school has approximately 560 students, 48% of whom are English
language learners. With 62% of the families at or below poverty
level, Vose faces many challenges in assuring that no child is
left behind. The school has instituted extended learning opportunities
at lunch and through after school programs to address these issues.
The teachers and staff are dedicated professionals, and creative
in their approaches to Vose's complex demographics.
At the same time, the resources of the school propel it forward.
The new Spanish bilingual immersion program has begun in the kindergarten
and will add a grade level each year. There is currently a waiting
list to get into this program, which is optional for all students.
